Exo Collaboration Suite has just reached our demo server.

It is based on the freshly released CS 1.1 beta4 that is already available for download on OW2. This live demo is still beta and will be updated when we release 1.1 final. Until that, we will be happy to hear some feedback at cs@exoplatform.com.

Preview Release of eXo Social

We are proud to announce the release of eXo Social 1.0-Alpha 1. Behind this geeky version number you should understand a Preview version which is not meant to be used in production. But it’s a good way to see what will be in the final release.

This release come with the first version of the support of the OpenSocial Standard.

eXo People brings Enterprise Social Networking to your work. It allows you to organize your workforce in an efficient way through a better understanding of your people skills. It implements the OpenSocial standard that simplifies the development of social applications and allows to reuse the enterprise social graph inside your organization by any other application.

eXo Spaces add communities to your work. It allows to easily regroup people by interests or projects. It leverage any existing application such as Portlets or Gadgets to enable a collaborative work.

More to come :

  • Rewriting of the Profile storage to be shared with the Portal and CS
  • Improve the compliance to openSocial
  • Improve the UI of spaces
  • More configurations options for the spaces

So go test it, and don’t hesitate to send us feedback.

eXo Platform invited to the Tunisian Annual Seminar on Open Source

As part of the implementation of the Tunisian National Plan for Open Source, the Tunisian Ministry of Communication Technologies organizes on Tuesday, December 16th 2008 at El Ghazala Technology Center (Tunis), the 4th edition of the annual seminar on Open Source on the Topic:

“Open Source: a strong involvement of Information Technology contributors”

eXo Platform MEA, based in Tunis, has been invited by the Ministry to participate to this seminar. Benjamin Mestrallet, CEO and Founder of eXo Platform, will attend the seminar and will be part of the first panel about integrators’ Open Source strategy, to present Open Source editors’ point view. Oualid Chaker, eXo MEA Manager, will also animate a special workshop dedicated to eXo Platform products in the afternoon.

[New Release] eXo Portal 2.5

We are proud to announce the release of eXo Portal 2.5

The main feature of the 2.5 release is the full support of Google Gadgets:

  • Gadgets can be placed in the user workspace or in the new dashboard that provides a fully customizable gadget page
  • Edit and maintain custom gadgets within eXo Portal either with the inline gadget editor or externally via webdav using your favorite editor
  • Reuse gadgets from a remote repository such as iGoogle directory
  • Acts as a gadget repository to reuse hosted gadget in an external consumer

The other major feature of 2.5 is the support of the right to left languages with the new RTL framework and it provides a support for the Arabic language.

Beside that the news and noteworthy features are

  • Upgrade of the overall look and feel
  • The new application registry supports now gadgets via a more intuitive user interface
  • Improved usability of the portal editor with the support of the page body drag and drop
  • Drop of the support of the widget framework in favor of OpenSocial gadgets
  • Product split between the portal and the WebOS, now the WebOS is considered as a separate product
